First of all sorry for starting another vibration thread, but i have confused myself by reading all of the others and trying to apply it to my vibration problem.
I have a 05' fx4 that i purchased in November. Right away i had major vibration issues, and after several trips to the dealer they finally replaced all 4 tires because of what they said was tire flat spotting due to sitting on the lot too long.
The new tires did made a huge difference and the ride is much better. Like has been mentioned before fixing one problem reveals another. I now have a repeating vibration that i feel in the stearing weel and on the floor mainly between 40-65mph, and a bit stronger when excelerating slightly. It is a slight vibration, it does not shake the whole cab, you can just feel it. Yesterday i took it back to the dealer and test drove with their noise and vibration specialist and he said it was a tire issue not any of the other issues that i have read about in other threads. So he had the new tires force balanced and the problem still there. So the dealer tells me that it is still the tires causing the proplem, but it is the more aggresive Goodyear LT all-terrain tires that are cause the vibrations. I am just not sure i buy what they are telling me. My question is this; 1. anyone else just have the vibration issues just at those specific speeds, and 2. Does anyone else have a simular problem that has the Goodyear LT tires on their truck?
well if you bought bigger tires u will need to reprogram your computer with a tuner to those size. also you might want check your alignment, however when i had my stock tires i had vibration around 100+ mph with my new tires which are BFG ALT 33's i expreince nothing if none of this is of any use i dont know what to tell you if i were you i would take to the dealership and have them look at it especially if you still uner warrenty.
I took my '04 Heritage in for a few "We Owes" this week and they gave me an '06 F150 SCREW as a loaner. I drove it to work and I noticed that the steering wheel vibrated or shimmied the entire time I was on I-75. I just assumed that it was tire related and didn't worry about it since it was just a loaner. Interesting to see that it is an issue with many people.
I have a 04scab fx4.First brought the truck in for a noise in the rear and the dealer replaced the ring & pinion.I picked it up & the truck had the worst vibration I ever felt.Took it back -4 days later a new set of r&p and a new driveshaft. Now the truck has the same vibration @ about 50 mph.The best was when the service writer told me it was cupped tires.Took it back & now they say "Can't duplicate problem" (The dealers answer to everything they can't fix or broke)My truck is @ another dealer as we speak. The forman @ this dealer tells me he feels the problem which is nice.I'll see if they can fix it.The best is I've contacted The Lemon Law people about my condensation that the dealer can't duplicate.Hope you have better luck then I'm having!I love my truck but it makes me sick when I write the check every month with so many problems & trips to the dealer.
Ihave an 05 fx4 It shakes at 40 to 60 mph. You can feel it in the seat, the floor, and the steering wheel, and see it in the bed since it is jumping up and down and not 1 dealer yet can duplicate the problem.Taking it to a ford owned dealership to see if they can fix it.
Just curious but I owned an 04 stx reg cab and now an 05 xlt crew cab (thanx katrina .On both vehicles I had Michelin tires and never experienced any vibration.Could it be from the tires?..........by the way the 05 had some continental or other shi**y tires but I told them no sale unless you put on Michelins.
I wouldn't jump right to the tires. I have Michelins on my Expy (just about same truck, just different skin). I've now had 14 tires, ring and pinion, driveshaft, and steering rack replaced and still vibes all over the place. In addition, now it rides as rough as a 1 ton reg cab dually with no load and over inflated tires. In all of this the goofiest thing is that the shop foreman has suggested that in order to reduce the vibrations, I should lower the pressure in my tires to about 25 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the same company that has had lawsuits over their tires and have asserted that the owners did not maintain proper tire pressure, right???????????
