Good Afternoon All! I have some wiring issues/questions I was hoping for some help on. I've got a '75 styleside I just got back from the paint shop. Since getting it back, I've noticed that my right from blinker does not work when the headlights are on. It works when they are not. The body shop installed a different bumper, and they tied into the wire to the right rear taillight without wiring the signal itself back up. I dis-connected the bumper light and re-connected the wires they tapped into, and all is well in the rear. Don't know if they are related issues or not. I have a new turn signal switch, blinker fuse, and new headlight switch. I also have access to an 86 Ford I could snag donor wiring harnesses from if they will work, does anyone know if they are? Thanks !!!!
Each light has it's own ground so I would start there. Then go with a test light and get to checking contacts in the socket. Socket might be the same on an 86. the rest of the wiring will be different.
I had a PO issue where my blinkers would fast-blink once in a while (and it behaved differently if the headlight/parking lights were on). I checked grounds, sockets and replaced the blinker "switch" but no luck. Decided to wire in new sockets for the front blinkers/taillights and while doing one of the back ones noticed that the PO had wired it incorrectly. Once I straightened that out its all good.... check those wires!
