Hey fellas. Late 99 Superduty, 7.3. I had to take a 200 mile road trip this morning. As I was getting closer to home when I was floating the throttle to maintain speed (Not letting off but not accelerating) my RPMs would start to drop. It would pick back up as soon as I moved the pedal. The check engine light never came on. Does this sound like it could be the throttle position sensor? I haven't had any issues lately but I don't drive the truck very often, maybe once on weekends. Any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks..Phil
The TPS could have a "dead spot" as they are merely a potentiometer and single position ware over time. it can, and does occur.
You might try some contact cleaner in the sensor and hope for improvement.
A recorded graph on a Scantool would provide much needed data for a more specific approach. You could as well view the sensor data with a scan tool or the signal wire using an oscilloscope or, perhaps a good DVM.
