7.3 acting up when cold after loading SCMT
Loaded the SCMT into my 02 7.3 PSD. Under hard acceleration, before engine reaches peak operating temp, the engine cuts out, sputters, and makes a grinding noise. I disconnected the wastegate since I just started hearing it for the first time, but the problem is still there. It seems to do okay after the engine gets good and hot. Any ideas?

I have had the same problem. I have a 2000 Econoline Van and got a superchip microtuner 1705. In both the mid and high programs the same thing acures. Also harder starting and very touchy throtle response down low. In the low program there was very bad surging at idle, rendering that program useless. I have sent the thing back to superchips for retuning? Well see. Let me know if you find anything else about it. Love the power it makes. I guess it is livable knowing about it, till it warms up. But it has to be hot. Even starting warm still requires 5 minutes or more for it not to do that. I guess it is the timing being too aggressive. Can't take it till it is fully warmed up.
