Snow plow package?

How can I tell if my truck has the front springs for the plow package? Are they marked anywhere? When I bought the truck, it came with a Western Ultramount frame and was wired up for it. Just curious, as I don't have the original build sheet, (I replaced the alt. with a L/N 230a, and put the hd fan clutch in). Any help is appreciated.

First, look on your door sticker. There is a spring code with 4 letters. The first 2 are front, the second 2 are rear spring code. The front springs are more of the concern especially since the rears are mostly similar. Mine for example is CCDD. My F350 DRW crew cab has the FX4, CAMPER, & 13,000# GVWR packages. The Snowplow package should have the 6,000# code CC springs or higher.
Then look it up below.

Front Springs
.
AA — 5C34-5310-AMD, 7,000 lb
BB — 5C34-5310-ALD, 6,500 lb
CC — F81A-5310-AHD, 6,000 lb
DD — F81A-5310-AGD, 5,600 lb
EE — F81A-5310-EA, coil
FF — F81A-5310-FA, coil
GG — F81A-5310-GA, coil
HH — F81A-5310-HA, coil
II — F81A-5310-RA, coil
JJ — F81A-5310-SA, coil
KK — F81A-5310-TA, coil
TT — F81A-5310-AFD, 5,200 lb
VV — F81A-5310-AED, 4,800 lb
YY — F81A-5310-UA, coil
ZZ — 2C34-5310-WA, coil
.
Rear Springs
.
BB — 5A975, leaf
CC — 5A975, leaf
DD — 5A975, leaf
FF — 5560, leaf
HH — 5A975, leaf
JJ — 5A975, leaf
KK — 5A975, leaf
NN — 5A975, leaf

Hi all,

Not trying to hijack into an existing thread but I am somewhat confused. I have been reading many threads on front/rear springs to replace the soccer mom units in my Ex and I didn't see any XX codes on the list posted( very helpful list by the way ). I thought that the X codes were the plow option and the heaviest.

Could someone explain?

Thanks,
Rob

2005+ Super Duties are coil spring in the front. That's what the original post is about and that's what those codes reflect.

You're referring to leaf spring it sounds like on older SRW trucks.
Even though it is a high jack I'll post it anyway. Here's for the front leaf spring codes. I'd recommend going over to the EXCURSION forum because all of this is hashed out to give you whatever end result you want when done. Personally I'd go with V code on the front of an EX. I'd do a search in the forum.

Front SD leaf spring codes
r = 3600 regular cab small gas engine
s = 4000 lbs @ground
t = 4400
u = 4800
v = 5200 normal for CrewCab diesel 4x4 longbed
w = 5600 normaly on some F-450 but not on F-350
x = 6000 SnowPlow prep pkg only for pickups, and heavier F-450s.

My apologies for the highjack and thanks for clearing this up. I didn't realize that this thread was about the newer trucks with the front coils.

I was planning on using X codes on the front as I plan on having a custom bumper on the front in the near future as well.

I will keep looking at the Ex forum for answers.

FYI the plow package fan clutch is only different than the regular clutch in one way: its lowest speed is faster. At higher fan speeds commanded, it is the same. It is this way because they figured you might have a big plow blade blocking the frontal area of the truck.

The V code springs are what I ended up using on a guys 2001 V10 Ex and it came out perfect. Being a number of years ago that's about all I remember. But when I was doing it the Excursion forum here was a huge help and is where I got most of the info for the swap. You save a lot of money having to buy the right parts the first time.

Because the engineering numbers were changed in 2016 for the body style change-over. You're in a forum for trucks a decade older than yours.

Pull the FGAWR from your VIN tag, that's your answer.
