98 f150 prerunner build.
Hey everyone new here. But not to fords. I have a 98 f150 std cab short box. It has the 5.4 with 4r100. LS with 3.73. I live close to silverlake sand dunes. I want to tear the truck down to the bare minimum. No dash wiring heater Ac anything. So I guess I'm wondering what I can remove from the truck and still make the drivetrain function properly. I want to buld door bars and a cheap easy offroad inspired bed. Low buck offroad build. It will not be road legal and don't care for it to be. I know certain years u had to retain the gauge cluster and certain things for PATS. Thanks everyone. Ean

your ignition key should be the Transponder (PATS) type, right ?
key, PATS, gauge cluster all work together for ignition system ... cant loose any part.
why not leave the dash and cluster, get rid of radio / glove box/ doors / brackets / air duct / heater / etc... just leave the frame and cluster.

My key is a normal key. Like no chip. So does that mean there is no PATS? Also that was kinda my plan to leave just the dash cover and gut it all. Was just making sure I didn't get rid of anything I needed and had to track down wiring demons later in the build.
