I am new to this site and new to 7.3's. I grew up driving around in these trucks but have never actually owned one myself. I have found a near mint condition 1996 3/4ton, 7.3 single cab w/ 95K miles. The dealer seems to not want to budge off $20K, is this what these trucks are going for? I understand the allure of having the classic body style and the hardiness of the 7.3, but seems expensive?
While I agree the price is really high, someone is probably going to buy it for that! If you can't get them down on the price however, I would probably leave it alone unless it is the amount you want to spend! It would have to be 1. Perfect and 2. Have every seal and wear item replaced recently and even at that no. I have had numerous 7.3 ranging from the OBS to the 99+ and each one, regardless of how great of condition has needed around $2,000+ the first few years. I am somewhat particular but still, tires, brakes, interior pieces that are worn out, driveline, injector cups, coolant flushes etc. It all adds up!
Yea I'd keep looking as well no matter which way you cut it its still a 20 year old truck and seals/orings and all sorts of things dry up. Doesn't matter how clean it is it'll still need something once you start driving it
That's way high. My dad bought a 2000 F-350 dually with 100k on the clock two years ago for $14,000. He bought Ford steel rims and a new set of tires for it right off the bat, and that's the only money that's been put in to it in two years.
Hell, I only paid $7,000 for my '97 F-350 with 130k.
Theres a guy that lives up the road from me that's always selling stuff. Last year he had a super clean single cab longbed 350 4x4 7.3. Truck had 120k miles or so.
He was asking $24,500 for it. It sat there for about three months and then one day it was gone.
I see some older guy driving it around from time to time. I don't know what he paid for it but either way any negotiation you could do on that deal is still WAY too high for a truck like that.
