6.7 coolant question

6.7 coolant question

Gonna get new coolant since I did my egr delete. Will I need to buy a bottle of vc12 when I buy coolant?

If complete refill with new coolant, then no.

If you re-use any of the old coolant, then I would want to test it before adding any VC-12. You can only use thee VC-12 a limited number of times.

from my 2015 diesel supplement manual

Motorcraft Specialty Orange Engine Coolant Revitalizer – Additive to boost the corrosion inhibitor level based upon the test results of the Antifreeze Coolant ELC Contamination Kit. The Revitalizer may be added two times over the life of the coolant. If additional dosages are required, the cooling system must be flushed and refilled per the instructions in the Workshop Manual.

Yes itll be new coolant. Probably between 3 and 5 gallons. Can I buy the diluted Orange and not worry about adding water.

Yes, you can buy pre-diluted. You can also buy regular gallons of coolant and gallons of
purified water from your local grocery store cheaper.

Primary cooling system uses 30.8 quarts of coolant and water. The secondary uses 10.8 quarts of coolant and water.

You will need approx 11 gallons of pre-mix. 11 gallon 50/50 @ $14 a gallon = $154 plus any tax.

Or 6 gallons of regular coolant and 6 gallons of water. Wal Mart sells the water for like 97 cents a gallon. 6 gallon @ $16 = $96 + 6 gallon water at .97 = $6 for total off $!02 plus any tax


Both options will leave you about 2 to 3 quarts of 50/50 mix for later use.

Ford suggest using a vacuum coolant installation. You pull a vacuum on the coolant system and then let the vacuum pull the coolant from the jug into the engine coolant systems. Similar to this

I just did mine. Didn't use a vacuum just did it the old fashioned way. Bought full strength coolant and distilled water. Let the engine run with caps off, topped off as needed. Went for a drive, opened caps, and topped off again. Will check it for the next few days but I think it'll work out.
