Hellwig 7715

Anyone know if hellwig 7715 will mount in stock position off shock mounts for a 4wd? Hellwig lists it for 2wd single and dual. Diameter isn't of so much concern as stock mounting. Just think it will look cleaner. 7714 appears to relocate and use U bolts. 7282 is dually only but looks like stock location mounting as well.

Anyone install the 7715 part number? Pictures?

I have installed the 7282 which is nearly the same but 1 5/16 rather than 1 1/4. It mounts to the axle in the stock location, using larger (supplied) poly bushings. They want you to use their own links. That means R&Ring the existing links. That's like 10 minutes effort until you get to the driver's side. You will be swearing a blue streak on that one. One strategy is to unbolt and slide the DEF tank over, giving you 2" of knuckle busting blind access. The other is to remove the spare tire and go up over the DEF tank with a 24" extension and a universal deep wall socket. 2 hours later you are done with that one bolt. The rest is cake.

I've done that three times: once when I originally installed the bar, a second time when I reinstalled the stock bar because of interference between the Hellwig links and the 4 link air suspension, then a third time when I reinstalled the Hellwig with some modified links from Roadmaster which cleared the 4 link. So I consider myself an expert!

Hellwig's site sucks, you can see better pictures on trucksprings.com or SDtrucksprings.com.

SDTrucksprings has a great initial price on both, until you add shipping, then amazon seems to be better. $100 difference for 1/16th larger, other than that they appear they would be the same dimensions. going from no swaybar to having one anything will make a difference. leaning towards ordering the 7715 and putting the other 100 on a cold side pipe, replace the plastic stuff...

Get the right one

They make a one for the 4x4 that does not use the factory location. The bar goes above diff. Give you a little bit more clearance.

Amazon Amazon

This is the one I installed. EASY...

Not saying SDtrucksprings has the best price, just that they have nice pictures of the product. 1/16 doesn't sound like much, but keep in mind that the torsional rigidity is proportional to d^4, so the larger one is 25% stiffer. Which isn't all that noticeable in a sway bar.

I have the 1 5/16 one on the back and the 1 1/2 on the front. Makes a very big difference in handling with a 12' tall camper loaded in the bed.

Yeah that didn't come out right at all, my apologies, I do like the pictures they have. I am going to give the 1 1/4 bar a go. See if it will indeed install as expected. I'll post up some pics hopefully this weekend.

I swapped the stocker for the 7714 and I think the above-the-diff location is better, cleaner and out of the way. The below the diff location is a horrible design for off road clearance. Note the above the diff was the factory location on the older SD models.
