I dont have an IDI anymore, but these forums are the most reliable ive been in when dealing with diesel. I purchased a 2000 isuzu npr hd 3.7gallons collant capacity. 4.7 turbo diesel.
I flushed the coolant out (it was the green one) and poured 2 gallons of the red coolant in. Then filled the rest with water (it wasnt a 50/50 coolant). The problem is, My truck is in a slight incline and only about half a gallon of water went in, if that. This means that the incline is holding about 1.3-1.5 gallons of the old green coolant.
The truck has 149,500 miles. My question is, am I ok driving it this way? or should i get rid of that coolant immediately? It was kind of expensive. but if i have to, ill get it replaced. Can i drive it like this for a while. Kinda low on funds after oil change, coolant and insurance, registration/dmv coming up.
as long as the coolant you used says safe to mix with all coolant types. if you mixed a true OAT (organic acid technology) you could have a caustic mix on your hands, All ways flush with plane water, or best distilled water, when changing coolant types in a rig you care about, and only use premixed coolant, as minerals from tap/well water don't play well with some coolant types,,(OAT) and premix has no minerals...

I dont see OAT information anywhere on this gallon. Can this type mix with the green 50/50 coolant? It is red.
I would flush your coolant completely and go with 100% green or 100% red coolant (50/50 mix of course). Especially since that doesn't mention anything about "universal coolant."
