I have a 54 F100 239Y block 3 spd. on the column. I am putting in a 351w out of a 85 F250 with c6 trans. I am trying to figure out my gear ratio on my 54. On axle it has 47/12 on gear ratio tag and the following numbers on the passenger's side of axle- 64B 4' 2169. Can some help me with this? I'm thinking I might need a 3:51 gear set up?

Additionally I am selling my 239 Y block, it runs but smokes. I have video of it running in truck.

The 47/12 tag refers to the ring and pinion gear tooth counts - 47 teeth on the ring gear and 12 on the pinion. This means you have the original 3.92:1 ratio. That ratio is a little low for a modern engine with a straight 1:1 final drive ratio in the transmission like the C6, but it would be just about right with a transmission that has an overdrive gear. If you're positive that you want to keep the C6, you'll probably want to look at running something between a 3.00:1 and a 3.55:1 depending on your driving style and planned use for the truck.
