MY brake booster is bad and I will be getting it replaced Saturday after next. It doesn't appear to be effecting anything and my brakes work fine. As fine as they are I guess.
My question is, even tho it don't appear to be effecting anything, is it really not effecting anything? Am I missing anything?
That's what I was thinking, but nothing seems to change when my foot is on the brake. Unless it's a constant thing, and will improve once the booster is replaced.
I was thinking tho, that the engine wouldn't be running right or at all with a vacuum leak.
Maybe the rotten gas mileage will improve too.
I just figured I'd ask, since it seems everything effect everything on these trucks. I didn't want to miss anything or probably damage something because i can't get it fixed right away.
You know about the zero loss booster? I think it's standard replacement now if you look at the numbers on rockauto. Believe it was intended for 1997 250/350 models but pretty sure the number is the same between 92-96. At least it is for a 94 f250 on rockauto.
I've never heard of it.
I'm not exactly sure what no loss even means. no loss of vacuum? Is it an improvement over the stock one?
I'm getting a new one installed Saturday, I wonder if the shop will install one not intended for my truck.
Well I went and check Rockauto, and Oreillys. They are the same so I guess that's what I'm getting.
Oreillys is 10.00 more on both cost and core charge.
Somebody discovered it as their magic fix in one of the brake threads. Which truck is the booster going on? And have you thought about installing it yourself?
it's going on my 93 F-250.
No I haven't thought about it. I don't have the time nor the want to do it.
Everytime I try to fix anything on these trucks, something else goes wrong. Usually something so simple turns out to be a major PITA.
So I'd rather pay someone else to deal with it.
Fair enough. I've also had that issue, take on one repair and either create or discover some other problem. Saw your reply on the other booster thread. No change at your pedal after you had the new booster installed? Did the whooshing or sucking go away, or no?
Keep us posted with your efforts and outcomes. The soft pedal threads rarely get the final update on what was the cause of the problem. Can I assume you've been through adjusting the drums, bleeding at each wheel and the RABS?
Are your rubber brake lines in good condition? Any loss of fluid in the master cylinder? Kind of chasing my own pedal problem. Truck stops great but pedal is not confidence inspiring.
