I was referring to the 3504. Do you recognize it Bill? Looks like the one on page 20 of the 73/79 illustration section 35.
Note. Even though the bottom of that illustration doesn't say it, that illustration also covers 77/79 F150/350 4X4.
Whatever it is, we know it's not original because there was no P/S available with 4WD until 1973.
We also know this:
1973/77 F250 4WD's (High Boys) used Power Assist P/S. The manual steering gearbox was used, because it had nothing to do with Power Assist.
I will try to get my dad to take a trip over to the garage it is in next chance he gets. hopefully I can make this new wheel/column work. might just take a little trial and error.
hoping to eventually do that electric fan mod and 4 wheel disc brakes would be nice. just have to get these steering issues fixed first. not a nice feeling when the shaft slips and the wheel stays straight.
if this is the above mentioned Thompson box, is it good to keep in there or is there something else I should replace it with? if so can I still use that same power steering pump?

The Ford Thompson mentioned above IS the PUMP you have. I was talking about the steering gear box for the tag numbers.
[QUOTE=Smirks90;16997724]ahh ok, ill see if I can get any numbers off of the box. see I have no idea what is going on when it comes to the steering lol[/QUOTE)
Zactly. That's what I want to help you figure out watcha got. BTW, Thank You for your Service.

No such thing as a Thompson box. The 1967/77 P/S 'pencil neck' pump was made by Ford/Thompson.
Steering boxes were made by Saginaw (a division of GM) for FoMoCo, so I call 'em Ford/Saginaw.
