I'm looking to put a front axle sway bar on my 1974 f350 . It has a dana 60 hp in it from a '78, and I was wondering if any of u guys might have a part number of one you have used or even a couple of pictures of your sway bar setup. Any info is appreciated, thanks.

 

Are you looking to put a factory sway bar on your truck or just something you find off of a junk yard?

 

Ideally something I could buy, but wasn't sure where to find one for that axle

 

I've got a front and rear sway bar on my 1979 F250 4x4, the front axle is a Sno-Fighter Dana 60 HP (1978 date code).

If you found one at a junk yard, it could be installed in the factory location fairly easily.

If you have a look through my build thread (link in signature), you'll come across the rear sway bar that I cleaned up and installed new bushings for.

The front sway bar looks the exact same, but it's 1-1/8" (front) diameter instead of 1" diameter (rear).

Mounts the same, all the same pieces, just the thickness is different (which changes which bushings you buy).

I'm not sure where to locate the # for the front sway bar, but I'm betting the master parts catalog has it listed. I'll have a look and get back to you in a moment.

EDIT:

So I don't have any photos in my build of my front stabilizer bar, but I did find the Master Parts Catalog diagram of it. I'm not 100% certain, but I believe my sway bar doesn't have the odd connection directly above the pinion as the diagram shows... but again, I'm not 100%. IIRC, my memory tells me that the front sway bar mounts almost identically the same way the rear sway bar does on my truck.

What are you saying, your '74 F350 has 4WD w/a Dana 60 front driving axle?

F350's were not available with factory installed 4WD until 1979. So if your F350 has 4WD, it's a conversion, possibly performed by Marmon-Herrington.

No front sway bar was factory installed with 4WD until 1977.
