If you plan on keeping the truck a long time, what are your plans once it's out of warranty? If you decide to finance it beyond the warranty period, I hope you have a backup plan. I would not own or finance a diesel out of warranty, however that's just my opinion. You may never have any trouble. I just wouldn't take the risk.
These trucks are very expensive to repair and unless you have the cash to cover a major repair if needed then you need an extended warranty.
