I am in the market for a new V10 F250/350. The color and equipment options I want can not be found on any of the lots. I am considering ordering a truck. Is it genearly true you get a better deal buy buying off the lot? Are the incentives (0.0%/36) availabe on an "ordered" truck?
Each dealer's going to be different, so no one rule works across the board. Some dealers will do ANYTHING to move what they have on the lot, others may cut you a better deal if you order. Having to settle for something that doesn't work for you, just to get a so-called "good deal" by buying off the lot, is NEVER a good deal.
Ford will only honor rebates on vehicles that are sitting on a dealer's lot. So, if you order, it's going to be the rebate that's in effect at time of delivery, not time of order. Again, different dealers may alter that. I work at a dealership that guarantees the rebate at the time of order; if it goes down, we make up the difference, out of our pocket. If the rebate goes up, you'll get the higher rebate. We prefer that you order the vehicle, so this is our way of providing an incentive to order. But: THAT'S OUR OWN POLICY: IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH FORD. Most dealers will not offer a rebate guarantee, and I have no idea who else is doing it. You'll just have to shop around and ask. Hope that helps.
