Cell Phone Antenna

I have used a Weboost cell phone amplifier and antenna on my last few trucks, but I've been running into a problem with the new aluminum body. Has anyone found a good way to mount an antenna? I found this online and it seems to fit the bill, but I am far from a communications expert.

I've been searching for a good antenna mount for a ham radio and the only solution that will perform well is to cut a hole in the roof. Hopefully that's not the case for a cell antenna. There are mounts for the bed pockets, but not sure how that will work with the short antenna.

I had a link saved, but apparently the company tanked. It looked something like these: http://www.cometantenna.com/amateur-radio/no-holes-mobile-mounts/antenna-mounts-and-brackets/

How about a glass mount antenna? You could go with either the glass mount 12" whip antenna or the glass mount patch antenna.

I've always heard that the glass mount antenna's don't work with window defrosters. I've had my last few antennas drilled and hole mounted, so I am comfortable going that route as long as the antenna will work. I may try to set up a temporary mount using a stake hole to see if that spot works, I would be open to that location also. Has anyone tried a cell phone antenna there?

A patch antenna only goes on the inside of the glass. You could mount it along the top edge of the windshield, and tuck the cable into the headliner. Seems like the stake pocket route would be open to damage / vandalism.

These light brackets have me intruqued. Maybe one can be used for an antenna amount instead?

2015+ F150 A-Pillar Light Mounts

Stage 3 also has a similar bracket available.

Might not be as simple as that. You'll need to use an antenna that is designed to operate without a ground plane otherwise you'll get poor performance and a seriously skewed radiation pattern.

The link above is for non-ground plane antennas

I have used a FireStik CB Radio hood channel mount on my F-450 and then moved the same mount onto my '15 F-150. It is a very easy installation and I ran a ground wire directly to the battery.

Here is what I did for my cell booster.

I used a washer and doublesided tape to get this done.

Does the double sided tape last long?

We have a pile of trucks set up this way and have been for about a year. No issues. Many car washes as well.

We also do this with plastic cabs on tractors, combines and sprayers. All have no problems, and generally, the magnet is more weak than the tape.
