Epic, or anyone, I am at 6500 Km, 133 hours, 28 hrs idle time. I would be interested in what your oil change light came on at for hours, engine hours, mileage (4000) cause I am worried my change oil light is going to come on when I am embarking on a trip in the next weeks....

If you are planning a trip and are fearful of the dreaded change oil light coming on during your travels, change your oil and reset the oil minder system.
As a pilot, every aircraft I've ever flown has had an hour change requirement. It's not going to hurt your engine to get new oil after 4000 miles. I will likely continue to use a 5000 mile change interval on my 17' unless the oil minder comes on earlier.
im pushing 6800 miles and still no message to change oil. But I am going to change it at 7500, that's when I will need to add DEF. Just ordered two oil filters from dieselfiltersonline.com
The service manager at my dealership told me that 7500 mile oil changes is about average for the new 6.7L diesel engines. I'm not sure if the engine has a way to monitor the condition of the oil and let you know if it needs to be changed earlier. It must or some wouldn't be getting a message sooner. I'm a little disappointed that my new F250 Platinum doesn't have an oil % indicator. Not that it make much difference but I like to look at it every once in while.
With all the computers these vehicles have, its not much of a stretch that the engineers would come up with a formula, based on all the parameters individual trucks track and react to, speed, idle vs drive time, temps, engine load, turbo use and probably a whole bunch of other data points, go into the oil change interval calculation.
This is like adding accessories, each person can do what they feel is important or makes sense to them. I doubt will (or can) deny any warranty claims if I follow what the truck tells me. When I reset the oil change message, I'm sure that's tracked too...
Update, I got back from my long trip, I left at 7000 km, home at 8500 km, changed oil that week at 8607 km, next change 16,000 or oil monitor whichever first. No service light came on for the oil change on the trip. I was at a about 215 hours and 38 hrs idling at the time. Oil is awful dirty I will say, even after a change, kinda surprised.
I've got a bit over 3K miles now on mine (2K of it towing my 21K lb. 5er). Going to go xcross Country beginning of July for a 5+K mile loop. So I will be forced to change out early prior to my big trip.

I'm in the middle of a big trip. 3,500 miles on mine now, mostly towing our 5th wheel. Getting it changed today. I don't want to have the oil change message come on somewhere inconvenient.
Last oil change was 8,869 miles and 217 hrs. I changed first one with about 16% left
These are my stats now at 16600 miles 17% left. 402 hrs and 61 idle hours.
looks like i can go about 9-9500 on this change, but may go ahead and get it out of way this weekend. interested to see if my oil change interval changes, as far as computer is concerned, based on certain parts that fell off.
so far my average is seems to be about 8500 miles and 200 hours?
