I have a 2004 F350 with the 6.0. When pulling my camper up steeper grades, I get error code P0299. I don't see that code listed. Does anyone know what that code is and what the problem might be?
If you have less than 100,000 on the vehicle, take it to Ford Dealer and they'll fix it. Sounds like EGR valve or Turbo with that code. It will be a $100.00 repair.
Bob: P0299 is a "underboost" code. Actually it would probably best be called "boost outside of parameters" because there is no overboost code and I believe a P0299 will also be set on an overboost condition. Was your truck pulling well or did it lay down on you? If it was pulling well, it could have been an overboost condition due to vanes stuck in the turbo. I have experienced this condition on my truck and the turbo was replaced. The tech still believed that it was underboosting but 40 psi is not underboosting.
A few months ago I was towing my trailer, when the same code popped up. Truck never acted funny or anything, I cleared the code and havent had any trouble since. Is this something I need to worry about or take to dealer?
i would have it checked out, if its a reocurring issue , cause once your warranty is over it will cost you more than 100$ . unless you have somthing stored for the future...
