I plugged an APC Back-UPS XS 1500 into my F-350 tonight to try this out. No luck. The UPS didn't recognize the power produced by the truck. The UPS went straight to on battery.
Had to get a new piece of equipment today and needed to charge the power packs. I should add here I have never used an AC outlet in a vehicle before. There is a small LED light by the 12v outlet and the AC outlet. The 12V outlet was working fine. Light was solid. With the 12V disconnected the light blinks. I plugged in the battery pack charger and nothing. The light would just keep blinking. No power on the charger. We tried the outlet in the back also and same thing - no power.
Any ideas?
I just bought a new Milwaukee M18 battery and charger 12/2020 and this new charger works in my 2018 F250, where my 2016 Milwaukee charger would just give me the blinking light like what you are experiencing....
Thinking out loud about inrush current being the problem, where the initial current surge when you plug in your charger causes the outlet to shut down.
Some power outlet strips have inrush current limiting and some other power line filters built in. Maybe one of these between the outlet and the charger would help. And you get extra outlets.
