I'm having some trouble with my transmission. For a while now I have been having a flare from the 2-3 shift only on the first shift of the day and it started once I put a custom tune since the truck is deleted. I have driven this way for a while but within the last week it is starting to have a lot of issues. I am having flares in majority of the shifts now, but not every time. Sometimes it shifts perfectly fine, and when I go from reverse to drive it is like it is fighting itself and doesn't want to move very easy. The reverse to first is only on the first shift still after I go through the gears it is fine. I was originally leaning toward bad programming but I think I have more issues than just that. I have read some forums on here and I found one where someone was having same issues and ended up being line pressure shift solenoid. Could this be my problem. If so if I service the transmission and change filter, fluid, and solenoid will the truck drive normal or will I have to get the transmission reprogrammed due to the solenoid. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Are you sure you mean ANY help? You might not like this.
You said the flare started when you added a custom tune. There's your mistake, and I suspect it will cost you a transmission rebuild. A flare causes A LOT of heat in the clutch that is causing the flare. Since you let it continue to flare all that heat most likely damaged or destroyed that clutch. The debris from that clutch is now throughout the trans, causing all the other issue you're seeing.
New fluid, filter, and a solenoid, in my opinion, has less than a 1% chance of fixing this.
See if the place you got the tune from will pay for the trans. It is most likely that the tune caused this.
