I want to install the Warn 24' Quick Connect cable on my CCLB but I'm concerned it isn't long enough. I have this same cable on my Titan and there was maybe 16" of wire to spare. Does anyone have this cable on their CCLB?
This cable goes from the battery to the rear bumper so I can plug in my winch that goes in the hitch.
That'll be cutting it REALLY close. What's the next option? Might want to take a piece of kit string and run it front to back and then measure how much you use. I can't tell you exact as I never measured the amount of wire I needed to run from front to back as I just used a spool....
The string is a good idea. I should try that anyhow.
My dad has some locomotive wire (his term) that he thinks might be a similar gauge. However, I don't have the necessary tool to do the crimps. He has contacts at electrical shops that could do it for me. But said shops are 80 miles away. Road trip!!
I recall a thread that mentioned that there was a preferred battery to connect to. Passenger side versus driver side. I can't find that thread. Any idea?
I think the passenger side batt is called the primary but they're connected to each other so I don't know why it would matter. Passenger side would prob be easier to run heavy wire from.
I did this on my 2009 crew cab long bed SRW and did it again on my 2015 Platinum crew cab long bed dually. I think I have pics but I used the Warn solenoid kit and the 24 ft cable. Everything works fine. I have the connector at the rear hitch. I have a winch inside my 40 ft gooseneck trailer. I also have a winch on a cradle that can connect to either front or rear hitches plus my open trailer. I wired the solenoid into one of the upfitter switches. This way the hot lead isn't hot all the time. It's only hot when I turn on the switch. I'm also going to install a front receiver and run leads from the solenoid to the front bumper. Good for jump starts, winch recovery, etc.
Your father was probably referring to DLO cable. This site may be able to get you what you need. I've never used the company, just came up on the search.
Jimmy, thanks for your post. That's exactly what I'm planning to do. Any idea how much extra cable you had? The 2017 is a few inches longer than prior model years.
