This is my version of doing the fuel tank vent mod. Problems included taking forever to fuel up, and fuel spilling out.
Here is the OEM vent and filler, I'm guessing fuel was suppose to enter the tank thru the center hose and vent out around it, but it sucks.
Tear out the insert inside the filler neck, I tried a chisel and vice grips, that didn't work, had to sawall it out, as a member mentioned in another 'how to'.
Once you have it out, drill a big enough hole to install a hose fitting, screw it in part way, I choose to follow another guys 'how to' and also epoxy my fitting on. I went with 5/8" hose fittings.
I read other 'how to' where they use the roll over vent hole, but some have ran into fuel tank vacuum issues. I went with a bulk head fitting designed for A/C systems, with a 90 degree 5/8" hose fitting, but....you have to drill into your tank.
I found an old coffee cup, stuffed it inside the tank, held it inside with one hand to catch the shavings, or most of it.
While I had the bed off, I did the F26D rear fuel tank swap as well, here's where I drilled on the rear tank, the bed crossmembers are close on the rear tank, it was a squeeze but still worked.
I haven't tried fueling up yet, as I am still cleaning up some wiring splices that the previous owner did for a gooseneck. I will do an update soon.
I really like the use of the bulkhead fitting. I bought new rollover valve seals and used a 3/4 npt to 3/4 hose barb fitting in place of the rollover valve. Has worked great so far and I can fill my 38 gallon rear tank as fast as I want and I believe since the vent is clear on top I can get about 40 gallons in it!
Went to the big rig pumps today, WOW! No more shut off or fuel spilling out. My only gripe was that I put in 19 gallons, which should be half a tank, but the gauge showed little over a quarter, I extended the level sensor wire, but it must be off. Other than that, it was definitely worth it.

Did you use our original seals? I assume your fitting is a 90° and it fits nicely into the seal?
My rear tank has a 3/4" rollover valve from I think a c&c truck but there's no more to be found so I think pipe fittings are my best option for the front tank.

I bought new seals from ford and used plastic 90's. I took my chain saw chain grinder and made a little groove for the fitting to seat on the seal. I don't think I have had any leaks yet. Been on there 6 months or so now.
