61-63 460 swap

Hello I did a search in this forum trying to find some pics of what guys who have 61-63 f100 do for mounting when to come to installing a 460 in our trucks. Normally it would be bolt on but since 61-63 had the mounting on the front cross member you have to install a cross member or use one of the other mounting solutions. What im looking for is pictures and review from people who have done it and what kit the used and how they like it so far.

Thank you for your time

Trans-Dapt, as well as other sources, offers bolt in cross members for both engine and transmission. These will mount the engine and trans as factory and get away from the mounts your truck has.
Check with any of the suppliers that support this site. Most will offer something along these lines.

Don't have any pictures, but I have used these mounts on numerous swaps over the years and never had any issues. Even used them to put a 429 / C6 into a '70 International Travelall years back.

One thing to be aware of. There will most likely be interference between the new transmission bell housing and a cross member. Some just remove this cross member. I prefer to rework it since it helps pick up the rear mounting points for the front leaf springs.

Good luck.

I have seen many different versions of mount to use. Can you please add a link to the one you have used with success

There really isn't a right or wrong method to install the crossmembers. For the most part each swap has been different and each customer had different wants and requirements.

Your access to tools and your abilities may very well determine how you secure the mounts.

Good luck.

Tool and abilities are not a problem. I'm just curious to know since you have used the kit before what have you seen that works the best.

Looks like the trans and motor mount cross members are similar. If you weld on the ends of the cross member installed you will need to put spacers on both ends to allow you to remove the cross member. If you weld it on in place you will never get it out. Just a thought!

Is there another way to secure the ends
