Special IDI tools

I was looking for a compression gauge that would read high enough ,came across this one from Jegs... Thinking about grabbing it, wish it was a 500 psi scale , but I'm pretty sure it has the proper adapter ..M10 X1.0 correct?

JEGS Performance Products W89731: Diesel Compression Tester Push-Button Side Release Valve | JEGS

Also going to grab the ferret timing tool... Hopefully they are readily available ..
Have a 87 6.9 going to test out and determine wether I should keep it for a rainy day or not,so figured comp test is first place to start, then coolant pressure???
Any other special tools an IDI guy should have???

Might want to order that ferret adapter asap. I ordered mine a few months ago, and it took over a month to arrive. Probably not high selling item for them, so they don't make it a priority. Also, make sure you order the right size piezo clamp.

Maybe something to test your injector pop pressure, since you are willing to spend the cash.

Only special tool you "need" is a bent 9/16" wrench for removing the IP. I would say compression tester and ferret adapter are more wants. I do however have the cheap harbor freight compression kit, w/ 1000psi gauge, and a ferret adapter. When i ordered mine it showed up within a week.

Thanks for the reply guys.
Everyone getting them from this "tool discounter" place? Comes with a 1/4"(6.35mm) adapter? Going to go measure the line now..
In regards to the 9/16" , think I have an extra cheapy wrench around to make that happen..
I'll have to research the pop test thing...thanks for the heads up..

There is also a special IP wrench that can be used to rotate it when setting the timing. Most IP's have a nub on top that a box end wrench can fit on, but not all of them. Plus the wrench spreads the twisting load out some....I have heard of the nub on top breaking off when using the box end wrench on rare occasions.

As far as I know you're only looking at some tool to set the timing, glow plug compression tester fitting, and a freeze plugs installation tool.
