Just a update, took my 2020 7.3 to the dealer to to have this "feature" removed. They called back about 1.5hrs later and said it was done.
The invoice says they used Forscan for whats it's worth.
Billed me $190 Canadian which is about $3.78 USD ...
Not sure what they changed in FORScan because I tried rewriting every block I could find that had anything to do with it, unless the tech had more info than the FORScan forums.

I’m just going from what was written on the service report.

I get it. It’d be nice to know what exactly he changed. Doesn’t affect me but all the info out there doesn’t seem to work. It’d be good info for the FORScan spreadsheets.

The $190CAD would have bought you the nice OBLink MX Blue adapter and a lifetime extended license from FORScan; you could have done this yourself and had change left over for lunch.
Or perhaps I am missing it where you have FORScan, tried, and couldn't?

I have that exact adaptor and forscan but it doesn’t seem to be public knowledge how to do this on the 2020s. The 17-19 code doesn’t work on the 20s. I asked about it in the Forscan thread with no reply’s.
For all I know they didn’t even use Forscan? Maybe they did idk.
That makes sense now. I wonder if Ford is now using a gateway security module like RAM is. There is a product similar to FORScan that works on RAM trucks called AlfaOBD, but on the latest RAM vehicles there is a hardware security module which is basically like a firewall between the OBD connector and the main computer. There are various bypasses you can buy and install, or remove the gateway security module altogether...but in the day and age of wireless connections between cell phones and the vehicle, over-air updates, etc...its probably a good idea.
