3" Hitch Still Rolling...

So, despite what the 1/5 order guide and my source at Ford have said, the 3" hitch is still being installed on the SB SRW 6.7 350's and likely the SB HD 250's as well. Had a buddy send me a pic of one built on 1/20 (according to Etis) and it has the 3" hitch. There may be hope for this being a Job 2 changeover for some of us Jan orders yet.

What's up with this? Ford abandoned the 3" hitch already?
What is Weigh Safe going to do with all those new 3" ball mounts now

Just the cool factor is an 11

No, they only dropped it on the short bed 6.7 350's and on the SB HD 250's. The question is when.

Still available on the longbed SRW 350 6.7s and all DRW trucks. Also available on the 250 HC tows in certain configurations.

I don't understand why. If it's from customer complaints then how does one get a complaint to Ford to get a change done.
I have a couple dandies, but they only fall on deaf ears.
The 3" hitch would be the last thing I would want changed. They supply the reducers. It's really a non issue.

Purely a cost savings. The 3" is rated to 21k which is WAY over the SB's 15k conventional tow ratings. So it was wasteful on Ford's part to use it on that configuration.

I love the 3" receiver, its bad ***!! Look the truck probably doesn't 'need' the cool 6.7 exhaust tip, the big *** grill, or honker F350 fender badge but I like those features.

I thought some of the swb set up correctly are allowed 18k lbs ??

if so the spread between 18 and 21k is so small the extra strength would seem reasonable????

am I wrong on either point?

thx

I thought so too but no, only the 6.7 SRW 350 long bed is rated to 18k which is why they still get the 3". The short bed are 15k.

The guide I got in the mail last week says the 3" will only be on the F-350/F-450 drw trucks. All others get the 2.5. I emailed weigh-safe to see if they would exchange my 3" for a 2.5". But after this post I'm going to wait until my SRW F-350 diesel shows up to see what I have for a hitch.
