I don't understand this for two reasons:

1. When you order your truck, the price should be locked in. It can get no higher, even if Ford increases their prices before you truck arrives. Within just a couple of days of placing the order, your dealers receives a DORA which outlines the price the dealer is paying Ford for the truck. That will not change.

2. The $750 private offer comes out of Ford's pocket, not the dealer's. It they are raising the price, then they are simply trying to take your $750 offer and put it in THEIR pocket.

If this happens to me when I take delivery, I will have the GM in the office and Ford Customer Support on the phone.
Stick to your guns!!! I did when my dealer tryed to gig me with price increases to the tune of
$410.00 since the early December order.
Told them that there would be an issue if they couldn't explain the difference ,other than a price increase . Witch I knew I was protected from. Thanks to information gathered on this forum!

I just got my private cash of 750 today, expires 3/10. Truck delivery is 3/26, do you think they will still take it?

They should. Call them and explain situation, once you have a vin they can do paperwork. I did mine today and they backdated it last week so I could use my 750

Truck price was locked in. My guess is the finance goon thought I was too stupid to realize I had the $750 under my name.........

Using round numbers here, not the actual deal.

Order truck for 64,500 MSRP, put $500 down. So my $500 cash and whatever rebates were in effect at the time.
In the mean time I do the "request Ford brochure" by mail thing.
I get the brochure with the $750 bonus cash.
Go to pick up my truck (all the problems are detailed in another thread here).

As anyone who has bought a new car knows, there are a lot of numbers on the final paperwork, making it a complicated sales deal that you have to review and sign.

I had all the numbers on a spreadsheet on my phone.

Truck comes in, we go to pick it up. Starts out bad because it is like 17 degrees out and the truck is and has been outside all day.

Going over the purchase with the finance goon and something doesn't jive. Not being a math wizard I get out my much smarter then me smart phone and start to compare the sale with my info.

My bottom line price was the exact dollar amount I signed for 12 weeks earlier. no $750 private cash offer applied.

Then I see it, the goon scratched out my original $64,500 MSRP, changed it to $65,250, then deducted the private cash in the rebate section, effectively netting me the bottom line price the same as when i signed the deal.

The discussion got heated quickly, my wife left the office and finance goon and I started having a loud conversation about what a scumbag dealer scam this turned out to be.

I got up, told him to stick his "2 weeks before Christmas $65,000 truck up his ***" and I walked out of his office, went to my salesman and told him to go pound salt as well.
We sat for awhile while I cooled off and eventually someone else took care of the paperwork with the correct bottom line and we went home.

I wrote to the dealer principle about it but not expecting much, gave negative reviews on the questionnaires and wrote a scathing letter to Ford.
Never heard from the dealer or surprisingly, Ford.

I spent nearly 20 years in the car business. During that time I held nearly every position including sales manager and finance manager. I absolutely believe your story and I absolutely believe they tried to steal your rebate.

I started in 1986. Back then we didn't even have to tell a customer there was a rebate or show it on their bill of sale. If they didn't ask we kept it. I've been away from it since 2004. It's way better from a consumer standpoint these days but I'm sure there are still shenanigans that go on. It's dog eat dog and buyer beware. Much like life in some respects. To expect otherwise is being a little naive in my opinion. An educated consumer can navigate through it without much trouble but if you don't pay attention they will take advantage of you with a smile. The dirty secrets side of the business and the cut throat nature of it in general is part of why I don't do it anymore. I see it in other businesses too. You have to care of yourself because no else is going to do it for you. The internet has changed everything. Forums like this are invaluable for information sharing in every aspect of our life.
