Oily Residue Under Hood

I got a little oily residue on my hood here. It looks like it might be a little wet near the coolant hose & throttle body area. Anybody had this before? I also have the H&S Intercooler pipe kit installed. Not sure how long this residue has been there, but it is still wet, so its not all hardened. Maybe it's just loose intercooler pipe bolts? Thoughts?

Yes, I've gotten that on mine before. I never tracked it down though as I figured it was normal. Engines get greasy, dirty, and wet and they sling stuff up...

That is exactly what I have under mine and it happened when the CAC pipe exploded. If you had a failure before putting on the H&S, more than likely that's what it'f from. You may have just not noticed it. If you didn't have the CAC failure, I would pull the H&S pipe loose at the throttle body and check that O-ring. The O-ring on the H&S comes out of the stock pipe as it is not supplied with the kit as AFE does.

My CAC didn't explode, I replaced it as a preventative measure. I don't recall reusing an o-ring, but I recall some sort of gasket. I'll look for the oem throttle body and see if I missed the o-ring. Thanks.

Here's the stock throttle body, no o-ring, just a bunch of crud. So i went to the truck and tightened the bolts a little. A couple were a tad loose. Hoefully that solves it.

The oring will be in the CAC pipe end that connects to the throttle body. Pretty hard to see. If you have time, check and see if it is intact.

Aaaah......the beauty of exhaust gas recirculation. Reminds me of the Cummins grid heaters that look like BBQ pits.

I'll take a look when I get the chance. I have all my "spare" parts over at my in-laws. Hopefully by tightening the bolts a little, that solved it. But this o-ring deal has me double guessing myself. I also read through the directions again, no mention on it in there either. But I'll still check.
