I will be replacing my harness in the next few weeks. I wanted to get some expert insite on doing this. I figure I'll lay the new harness over the old harness an start from there. What do you think? What's the best way to do this? Thanks Chris
It can be done.
Pay attention to the color codes.
Replace one lead at a time color code to same color code length for length using good soldered splice joints and heat shrink tubing, then tape over the splice.
When your done, bundle the harness up with ty wraps or good grade tape every 12 inches and fit it in split tubing.
Tape that tubing every 12 inches.
Plug it up, test for function.
If everything works, tie in place so it will not lay against the exhaust, get snagged etc.
Specialty shops get near $300 for a job like this.
Before you begin, get good wire and not cheap plastic insulated junk, and in at least 16 gage, no smaller.
.
Look up a placed called COLLIS AUTO TRUCK PARTS in Pa.
They are north of ALLENTOWN. Give them a call and tell them what you need for your truck. They deal with Ford almost 100%.
Good luck.
