I have been thinking I might need to replace my engine harness for some time. It has been fixed multiple times and it is not in the best of shape. My plan was to replace it before another issue occurred.
The last time I checked the 1087461C91 (International PN) F81A-12B637EA (Ford PN) was $250.
Now International cannot sell me the 1087461C91. The part is blocked from the dealers because it is a ford only harness. Ford wants $500+ for the harness.
<O</O I found a F81A-12B637DA harness for $250. The DA indicates this harness is a California truck harness. Can I use the DA to replace my EA harness or will it contain different plugs for all the sensors?
I found a poor schematic on the web for both harnesses. The schematic shows a shunt and 3 wires going to the right side of the GPR on the California harness and my harness it shows only 2 wires going to the right side of the GPR. <O</O I guess I need to know if the main connector is the same on the two harnesses because the schematic I found does not show the main connectors. <O</O Do the 2 wires I need go back to the same place on the main connector in the harnesses? If that is the case I would have a spare wire in the California harness and I would save $200.
California harness has two seperate square plugs for the Glow Plug Control Module. If you have the Glow Plug Relay then it will not work unless you are a pretty good electrician. Why don't you just tear down your original harness and heat shrink and solder the items you need to in order to get your original back up to working order. Brand new is nice but if money is tight then I would just repair as necessary. It is just time and patience bro. Oh yeah, and some solder, tape, wire loom and heat shrink.

I have done multiple repairs on the harness already. A lot of the insulation on the wires is getting dry and will soon start cracking and flaking off. <O</O I am in a place where I could spend a little money on the truck and was correcting some stuff I have repaired to get by. <O</O
I guess I will have to bite the bullet and buy the $500 ford harness.

Before you buy a new harness try some liquid electrical tape and give it a trial in a couple of the nastier places.
Might be worth it before you have to cough up 500 bucks.
You can't hide money. Spend it and get yourself a great christmas present. If you are going to toss the old harness then I will pay the shipping. I can overhaul it. Just takes lots of wire, tape, loom and did I mention lots of time and patience and time.
