Question Touch Up Paint?

I was powerwashing my truck yesterday to get some of the winters crud off of it and noticed a small shiny spot on top of my hood. Closer inspection revealed it was a stone chip, how i could have gotten a stone chip in that spot vex's me but im looking at touching up the spot.

I looked up parts and found there touch up paint and looked up duplicolors site for there version. Ive had oem paint before without any issues in terms of match but im new to fords paint touch ups, i do have a little bit of a tougher match, its the ruby red paint that was optional.

Do any of y'all have preference to touch up paints and what have you had luck with in past and present. Thanks, stay safe.

I've never found Duplicolor to duplicate color very well. Even OEM touch up can be off a little. I've noticed since manufacturers started using water based paint that it chips easier and that that chips are bigger than with solvent based paints.

Definitely spring for the OEM paint. I've had good luck with Duplicolor in the past, but I wouldn't trust a truck this new to cheap aftermarket paint.

It may not be a perfect match either way...remember that your paint job starts wearing the second it rolls out of the assembly plant. Probably not enough fade to notice a mismatch, but it could happen.

Why in the world would you look to save a few bucks on paint when you paid several hundred dollars for the privilege of having Ruby Red?

I never said anything about saving a buck?

Thanks to y'all for the advice, will go with the oem touch up paint, the dealer has it in stock.

I've had pretty good luck with the OEM touch up. The new Ford touch up paint comes in a tube with an abrasive nib for removing rust / corrosion as well as separate containers of base coat and clear top coat. Not cheap but worth it in my opinion.

I also have a ruby red truck. I purchased both the OEM touchup paint as well as the Dr. Colorchip kit. IMO the Dr. Colorchip looks better. Seems to cover the chips better and the blending solution does a good job of...blending it into the surrounding paint.
