Does anybody know where to get factory paint colors and codes? My F-250 is a green, and I want to keep that. What were the original color options? My 1947 Chevy (don't judge me!) has about 5 green paint codes available.
First suggest research and decide type of exterior paint, not sure if you want to go with acylic enamel, perhaps post question on recommending paint type in the 'paint and bodywork' forum and see if members can be of any help.
Found the Ford Truck Catalog only has a paint chip listed under 'dark green' (AE 1237-A). Have not used the tcpglobal site before, but in the selection of Ford Trucks 61-66, the only 'dark green' chip was in the 64 color chip chart. Suggest opening the 64 color chart and there are couple of fields 'type paint', and 'paint information'. After selecting the type of paint then in the paint information' field enter the name of the paint, 'dark green', then in the 'paint chip' field enter the code, in this case 12556; select 'update price' and it should bring up a list of numbers for type primers, reducer, hardners, and paint, believe PPG is the only listing. Take that number to local auto paint store and see if they can use that number and come up with a match. The paint store should be able to cross referrence to other paint manufacturers but understand PPG is a good brand. Anyhow, seems like got kinda winded and not sure if any of it makes sense. Good luck
