I personally would go tip. I love modded rigs, but I don't like the look of too big of a tipped pipe. When I see stacks I hope they have something to catch anything some jackwaggon might want to toss inside. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I've seen some thoughtful vandalisms. Good luck in your decision, it's your new baby so whatever you decide is the right one for you
I had stacks on my 7.3l back in the day, I loved it when I was younger. Nowadays, I have no interest, and I usually chuckle when I see them on pickups. I don't know if I chuckle because of the look, because I use to have them, or both.
I know I personally can't stand seeing 8 inch tips on pickups, probably cause it doesn't match the exhaust piping.
Anyways, its a personal decision either way. Good luck!

If driven often through the week, no worries needed.
As far as vandalism goes, we could worry about all the other aspects of our truck that could be harmed as well.
I would say do the mods you want , and don't let your mind think about all the "possibilities" of what some one "might' do. That is an endless game.
i think stacks are a fad that are fading quickly. Think from a retail perspective too, stacks require you to cut holes in your bed...and if a future buying doesn't approve, he aint buying the truck
Either one has to be the silliest ugliest most pointless thing you could ever do to a truck, unless your goal is theft protection or faster depreciation.

Well, if it's what the OP wants, who cares........
Also, when I traded in my 1990 7.3 that had stacks back in 2007, I still got $6,000 for it. So, I don't know if these comments about depreciation are entirely accurate...... Maybe its all situational.

I don't know if its a fad, maybe more of a "class" or "immaturity" thing.
Stacks CAN be done in a nice way in certain applications IMO. Those situations are rare though. I saw a 7.3 with a flatbed that had the dual 3.5" stacks positioned in a way that looked good. I have also seen the rediculous stacks, mostly in cummins trucks, that look like redneck, drunken mistakes at best. I have yet to see a pickup truck with larger than 4" stacks that looked good. The old cummins with the trashcan-sized single stack in the bed, rolling coal isn't my idea of cool. If anything, it tempts me to dump a bag of flour in it and film the results.

Doesnt make any sense to me either. If it just hooks to a 3" pipe anyway, what's the point. Kinda like those bolt on fart cans bailing wired on those import hondas....might as well get some spinning hubcaps while your at it 😜

What you have stated is a perfect example of the type of "class" of citizen I was thinking of.
