Stacks Pros and Cons?

I'm getting my truck next week, for sure. And I'm doing the DIY intake and Exhaust. And I cant decide between a 4 inch out the back MBRP with a 5" tip or stacks?

I love the looks of stacks and am leaning towards them. Pros and cons please.

If you are going to haul much with your truck you don't want stacks. They do look cool but will get in the way. I love my 4 inch straight pipe.

Pro's They are shorter than a regular exhaust, more free flowing. Con's if you don't get them, your not going to be happy.

Exit in front of the rear tire and they aren't much shorter

Pros:
1) Looks good if done right.
Um, that's about all I can think of.

Cons:
1) If you crank up the chip and/or run bigger injectors, the stacks get full of soot and spray out when you start it up. It rains soot and gets all over everything.
2) LOUDER than a pipe out the rear. Can be deafening at highway speeds, maybe less with an ext. or crew cab.
3) EVERYBODY has stacks these days, takes away from the uniquness, IMO.

Cons 1) & 3) are why I finally pulled my stacks off the Black Truck and went with a pipe in front of the rear tire. Now I have a black chrome wheel, but at least them dam stacks are finally off...

jim hit it right on the head. i have to add its a pain in the a$$ when your truck is clean and you start it up in the morning and the dew catches all the little "parachuters". hauling is a pain too. but im not here to be biased. i have 2 trucks; one with stacks and the other rear side exit. i do love the sound/smoke coming out of them though.

PROS: as stated previously-- nice and LOUD!!!
no black wheels
striking good looks

CONS: soot all over the paint
soot on tailgate when you wanna sit on it
everyone and their mom with a cummins has stacks

this issue can be taken either way depending on how cocky and lead footed you are. i actually like this issue about my stacks which is one of the big things keeping them on my truck right now..

this issue would be-- every person around with a diesel with a poof of smoke sees stacks and they automatically wanna run up on you and pick a race!!!!!

i like this issue b/c i haven't lost to a cummins or duramax on the street... YET!!!! i'm not saying i wont get beat, but i haven't yet so i currently like when ppl think they can outrun me cuz i'm driving a stroke! LoL

I had 5" stacks on mine and got rid of them... I liked the looks, they sounded good, but were too loud when cruising. Could hardly hear myself think in the cab.

Also was a pain in the *** any time I wanted to haul anything. Couldn't even put a piece of plywood in the bed with the tailgate up. I have dual side exit now and I love it!

I had stacks on 2 differnt trucks. They both looked great but, the bed sides were constantly dirty, loud(hard to sneak around) Draws cops attention.

My next exhaust is going to be full lenght tailpipe, cuz i want to run a Cap in winter, otherwise i think i would run stacks again

Love stacks. But they will get things dirty. But I wash my truck all the time anyway. 7" flat cuts do get loud in the cab when pulling though. But I love the stacks.

Well I think I'm gonna do a MBRP 4" behind the wheel with a 6 inch tip. I do to much highway driving with people and I'm way to lazy to wash my truck all the time. Lol. Maybe one day I'll get stacks.
