Mag Style Lug Nuts

Mounting my Western Turbine wheels on my 72'. Never mounted wheels with mag style lug nuts before. What a pain. How many ft lbs to tighten mag style lug nuts? Can't get them to quit giving at 90 ft lbs. Just keep giving. Torque wrench won't even click. Wheel flange is 1 inch thick. All the lug nuts I could find locally have a 3/4 inch shank. Don't know if that makes a difference

Jacked the truck up a little to get most the weight off the tires. Went back over them with the torque wrench. All seems well.

Did the nuts have washers on them? I am assuming they are not cone seat, if you don't have washers the nuts will continue to eat into your wheels and then the wheels will loosen and eventually come off.

Yes they do have washers. I think that was part of the problem. The washers were compressing to the shape of the lug nut. Once they took shape they torqued down. But, I also think I was over torquing them. What I've read gives me the impression 90 ft lbs may be a bit much for this style of lug nuts.

What size wheel studs do you have, 1/2", 9/16" or larger. The lug nut torque on my '03 dually is 150 Ft. lbs. My 5th wheel trailer with 9/16" studs was 120 ft. lbs.

They are 1/2 inch. I was torquing them at 100 and finally wrung one off. So I'm seeing if I can get by at 90. They are Dorman lug nuts form O'reilly. I guess they are a good brand

MAYBE? Dorman has some good stuff unavailable from anyone else and some not so good. I have found in the past with the coned seat type lug nut I thought they where a little soft. I would go with nuts from a wheel supplier or somebody like Summit Auto and look for major brand stuff. You could also look at replacing the studs with a 9/16 replacement, they ar a lot stronger.
