I've been playing with the idea of putting one in my truck, not really sure how good it'll look or how difficult it would be to install. I'm not scared to try things, just not sure if it's even worth it or how bad it would look. If anyone even has pics of one in their truck that would be great.
I put one in my 89 F250. Its not too hard to install. I got mine from a Bronco.
Grab all the mounting brackets from the roof, KEEP those little short screws that mount it to the roof(you be sorry if you use longer, seen that at the junkyard)!
Get the wire harness that comes up from the dash area along the windshield, you will have to cut that one out(below dash) and rehook up in your truck to the usual power, lights gnds, ect..... also need to tap into the VSS(speedo) signal for it to operate correctly.
Make sure to get the temp sensor from the front of the vehicle too. I didn't and had to go back and get it...
I installed it about 2 years ago, the 1st one lasted only a few hours before the display burned up. As there were no more Broncos with the OVH consoles at the junk yard, the Explorers have the same display but little different case/mount and I got it back running.
Seeing a 38F temp this morning was COLD for me here in Florida, LOL After driving in circles a few times(compass realaignment), the compass is right on.
