A 6x9 setting??? Replacing the radio is key to good sound. I had a kenwood once and had Polk audio ex series and with just the radio pushing them they sound hot.
PrPlayboy,
Were you not saying earlier that if he amped the front replacements (Kenwoods) that he would achieve the same results as replacing his HU with a more powerful aftermarket deck? I want to keep my factory deck (Pioneer CD-6 from a 2001 Explorer) using "speaker line inputs" on a 120W amp to run Boston acoustics 6 1/2" / tweeter components with crossover.
so...
2001 Ranger S/C 4x4
Pioneer CD-6 (from 2001 Explorer, HU only)
Kenwood 2 ch 120W amp
Boston crossovers
Boston components
Yes that set up will work but just remember you will be limited to the sound settings from the stock head unit. I ran my set up with the stock radio and it really didn't sound bad but I need a more flexable radio to work with my set up.
