Where is the proportioning valve located on these F 150 trucks now? if you swap rear drum to disc what vale is needed if necessary? Years ago P.V. were only on cars that had front disc rear drums. Drum / drum had none so if you have disc / disc is one necessary? Its not the master cylinder as it doesnt specify when buying one, thanks
It depend on the year and how the truck is equipped with a brake control systems.
Look along the frame rail for block where the line goes.
The rear most always uses a bit less pressure then the front so it does not brake traction before the front and utilizes auto brake system properly.
When the auto brake control does cut in, the ratio still has to be the same overall.
Engineering this brake pressure ratio depends on a lot of factors to maximize braking, minimize excessive pad wear on the front, the weight of the truck on each end etc.
Good luck.
1st timer here, and I am in need of advise with my 1967 F-100 drum brake system. It will not bleed out. No matter what I have tried the brakes paddle still goes down to the floor. I installed new wheel cylinders, rear lines, front brake hoses, new master cylinder with brake booster. Someone told me it the brake proportioning valve. But from what I have read that this rear truck did not have one.
Can someone please help me out.
Thanks Ray

Reason: Forgot to put in year of truck
Have you checked the piston size of the new MC compared to the OEM? My F3 has a 1 1/8" bore MC. Most dual chamber MC's that I found are 1". That smaller piston will put out less fluid and may not be enough for your OEM wheel cylinders. Worth looking into.
