So i have been fighting this for over a week.
Last week I took of in my 2001 f-350 7.3L, I rolled down my window to close the garage door. the radio stopped working and then the window would not go back up. I opened the door and the door ajar lite or chime did not work. a few seconds later it started working and closed the window. However the radio did not work. I got to work and pulled the fuse. #8 was blown i replaced the fuse and turned the key. it blew again. Thinking the radio was causing the issue i pulled the radio disconnected it and tried it again. the fuse blew again.
A question later on Junstanswer The tech advised to unplug the fuel bowl heater. I disconnected the fuel bowl heater and installed a new fuse and that blew. He then advised that the GEM is bad and to remove it and look for any moisture or sings of water leakage. There were none.
I thought if I reconnected the fuse box and left the GEM disconnected turned the switch to auxiliary I would be able to confirm that the GEM was in fact the problem... I asked the tech and said it would be a great way to isolate the problem. So i reconnected the fuse box and the fuse blew again. The tech from justanswer has not responded to me in a several hours. I have no idea what to check for next.
Lol, not sure I am doing anything any different with my rigs.

This issue has only happened this one time. Have not been able to get it sorted out. Manual shows #8 as the radio/headlight switch. Head lights work fine. Every thing works now but the radio and that damn fuse. I need to listen to something to keep the road rage at bay
Just because it wasn't the "radio" doesn't mean it's not the wiring going to the radio. Follow the wiring and see if you can find a short to ground. Probably somewhere where it it rubbing against metal.
You can narrow your search on the wiring by finding the 12v wires. Tons of wires on the back of the radio, but only 1 or 2 of them would be candidates for a short to ground. I had a crimp come loose on mine that shorted to ground after I installed a new radio. Of course, that was easy to find...
Just as a quick reminder from an old Electrical Engineer - You may be tempted to just put in a larger fuse that doesn't blow and call it good, but this is a BAD idea, and a good way to have an electrical fire. Fuses protect wires, not equipment, and are sized to prevent the system from drawing more current than the wire can handle.
Thanks, for the tips. I have no idea what I did this afternoon. I checked continuity from Fuse 8 to the power along the pink/black wire. I also had continuity to ground. So the search was on. I checked connections and plugs and it was working. I tried for 90 min to duplicate the issue and was not successful. Will wait until the next hiccup.
