Just wondering what kind of jack some of u are carrying in your tool box. Just got my tool box installed and want to get a jack to put in it. On this truck most of my driving is on pavement. The 2 ton floor jacks that I've seen seem to not lift high enough for our trucks.
Any info would be appreciated.
Lots of choices and it will depend on your individual requirements.
Are you talking about something to use only in an emergency and even then you will always be on good pavement? Is your truck lifted? Also, do you tow a trailer very often?
They can be a bit dangerous, but for a good all purpose jack they're hard to beat And they don't take up that much room like a roll around floor jack big enough to lift a truck would...
I have farm jack that I keep in my hunting/ranch truck. No special use other than allowing me to lift truck and change tire in everyday normal pavement driving.
the air jack is pretty good its just that cone sucks for our lifting needs. I use it for the fast fill then just use my Air compressor for the rest. I haven't done it yet but I think an adapter replacing the cone that will go over the pipe then a hose clamp might be better. If you do get it test it out 1st so you'll know what works and what doesn't.
What's your lift point for the farm jack?
i have a 6 ton bottle jack 12 ton, 2 jack stands and usually some wood in the bed
plus breaker bar with deep well socket set
Those farm jacks are very very handy. If you have access to a welder I would throw a piece of 1/4 plate on the bottom and lift arm to widen the footprint of lift area. Can get pretty dangerous on a windy day or on the side of the road with cars zooming by!
