Yeah i was wondering the same thing as well. I asked a Ford mechanic and he said that it'll run fine but set the check engine light. Which sucks. I have an old superchip programmer. But its ancient, idk if you can get egr tunes for it or not.
Some say bad fuel performance loss of power. Who's correct? Dang.

If the EGR is not working as expected, the computer will throw an EGR flow code(s). The EGR will reduce pinging, and make mileage slightly better on the highway, or at least, that's the general idea.
Get a tune from 5-star, and don't look back. The transmission shifting is worth it more than anything else.
it won't be enough to notice. Some say with an operating EGR, they see slightly better mileage. Not specifically the V10, just something I've heard over the years. I doubt it will make a difference.
