The truck in my sig has a cracked header (my fault), previously I welded an egr bung on the header to ensure the egr would operate. Here's my dilemma.
I ordered the exact headers I had before (ebay) but now I have the ability to turn the egr off with my diablo tuner. Would it be ok to remove the egr pipe completely and cap the valve?

yes sir, if it is indeed disabled, if you take the valve off to clean up/ make some more room, make sure your vacume lines are corked.

Just plug it, remove the EGR and all associated crud, and tape up the electrical connector if there is one for the DPFE.
Remember to plug the intake side of it too...

By the way, just so you know, the EGR can HELP fuel mileage at low-load (cruising) ... and help reduce pinging under light-to-moderate loads.
So whether it's a good idea to get rid of it, I don't know...
