EGR delete?
 

Last summer I ordered Doug Thorley Headers for my 99 V10 which has an EGR system, however I didn't specify to 5star nor think of it until I opened the box.:-banghead 5star can write me a tune for no EGR and emissions. Since we use tailpipe emissions I don't see an issue with this. I would however like to cap or remove the system if possible and maintain the original ECU/PCM.

I did contact Doug Thorley and they wouldn't swap them out even if I paid shipping both ways, so now I am trying to find a way around this. :confused:

Does Ford use different I/M's for different emissions based trucks, or is a plate and gasket available to remove the EGR system?

What I am thinking is capping 9D477 and looping the hoses. Or remove it all and make a template, gasket and blockoff plate for the EGR on the intake manifold.

Let's start from the beginning.

The headers you bought DO or DO NOT have the EGR port?

The headers do not have the EGR port.

Doug Thorley has them but will not swap even if I were to pay shipping both ways. 5star will write a EGR off emissions tune on top.

sounds like Doug thorley needs an attitude adjustment.

At least the one guy I talked too. I will figure a way around this whole deal though.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Get the tune that removes the EGR, and just leave the non-functioning valve on the intake.

Did you figure out an EGR delete strategy? So far on FleaBay I haven't found a blockoff plate that fits 1999 models.

See the post I quoted with the EGR delete plate, I purchased it last year. Header's will be installed either end of June or July this year. Will let you know then.

This part is not compatible with 1999 Ford E-350 Econoline Club Wagon XLT Extended Passenger Van 2-Door 6.8L 415Cu. In. V10 GAS SOHC Naturally Aspirated.

Hence my quandary.

FleaBay gave me that when I checked compatibility. I cut and pasted that.

So this is weird...

I ordered that EGR blocking plate. If a person puts that on and leaves the existing egr valve and vacuum lines there. is it going to set a check engine light?
