Hey guys n gals. Was just looking for anyone that might know why my door tag does not start with the standard "F10 or F25" It starts 123219A 699101L with a trim # 01 paint code # 1RR axle 3.89 with gvw 5000 and then F-F100 114 QP-3,L/D kinda funny but the real kicker is it has an 8 bolt pattern on all 4 corners. it runs ok but am going to restore some stuff like brakes etc. and don't know if I should order f100 or f250 parts?
Welcome to FTE. The reason your warranty plate is different from the usual is because your warranty plate indicates your truck is of Canadian origin and U S and Canadian warranty plates were different in 1963. Eight lugs at all four corners are characteristic of F250s. Number Dummy or one of our Canadian members should be able to decode your warranty plate for you. Enjoy your truck!

I can decode some of this, but you're missing a number.
123219 = Numerical Sequence of Assembly.
A = 3,600-5,600 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.
6 = 6 cylinder engine.
99 = Styleside pickup.
10 = 100 series (either a Ford F100 or Mercury M100).
1 = with the missing number, this decodes to the wheelbase.
Awesome people thats looking good to me.my Uncle has had the truck forever and said it has always been an 8 bolt 1/2 ton not sure why but it looks like the wheel cyl. for the brakes cross over to 3/4 ton so I can at least get it to stop!
Ford used a lot of different gvw on their 3/4 ton trucks in those years. I have seen in person an 8 lug 1963 Mercury with a gvw of 5600 and many trucks advertised as having 6800. It seems as though the 7500 was rarer up here but it existed. Think of them as light 3/4 tons or heavy halfs. Oh by the way some trucks in the 50's had 5 lug wheels and only a 4600 gvw
** And BTW: Have you looked to the VIN stamping on the frame to verify it matches the warranty plate on the door (or A pillar)??
If the door has ever been changed, that might explain why tag is F100, but truck has eight bolt stuff under it??
VIN should be on top of passenger rail, roughly parallel to fan blade (The usual description would be inline with alternator, but I think on the earlier trucks with generators, they're located differently than where the alternator is typically placed.)
The pic is from a Twin I beam truck, but AFAIK, location is similar on earlier straight axle trucks....
Earlier Canadian made trucks had the VIN on the left frame rail. I had this argument already and another member backed me up. 20 years ago I had a 66 Merc and it was on the drivers side as I recall. As the 66 line continued to roll out they switched to the American ways with the stamp on the passenger side. My truck was 746514 and production appears to have started for 66 at 746000
I am in Terrace B.C. and picked the truck up from my uncle in Langley a couple of years ago. Took that long to get the mustang almost done so room in the shop for this project to start. At least this one my wife is stoked about! On my way home now to see if the frame numbers match.
