1968 f100. Engine is bad and I have access to almost newly built 351w. Are there any bellhousings that will fit a borg warner t85n manual trans? Please help. Thanks
Ray -lakewood ca
What engine do you have now? If 240/300, you are good to go as it is the small block ford pattern. If it is then you would still need 302/351M/400 engine perches for a 351W replacement.
Engine I just took out is the ford 360fe. Metal in the oil pan. Sooo will the 351 Windsor bolt right up to the Borge warner t85n manual trans or do I need a new bellhousing. If I need a new bellhousing could someone direct me to where I can find on that bolts to a small block and Borg warner t85n. Then what about clutch. What size would I need. Thanks but this is first time trying to swap engine sizes.
You need a new bellhousing. The FE is different then a smallblock pattern.
If you can find someone with a cast iron bellhousing for a smallblock, that will work. The aluminum bellhousing were typically car related and also had 10.5" clutches.
Most all the trucks had 11" clutches in them. You will need a flywheel and starter also.
Sorry but I am so confused. So I should look for a 351w manual trans pickup truck v8 bellhousing? How many tooth flywheel? I tried looking this stuff up but not sure what to search for. Sorry for the newbie questions but want to make sure I understand what to get and then get the right thing.
What you need is the SBF pattern bell housing whether it comes from a 69-79 302 or a -79 240/300. The 351W was not installed in trucks until 1980 or so. The 351W is a SBF so you need a bell housing from those sources. What will get you is trying to find the clutch linkage to properly mate the clutch to your pedal. There is a difference between FE and SBF. Also you will need to find the engine perches as I said previously as they are different for a 69-79 302/351M/400 compared with the FE/Six perches. Final question, why not get a short block/ long block for your 360 as it would be easier in the long run rather than chasing all these little pieces and parts to make it work. It might be much easier to swap in a modern 5 speed trans like an MR-5OD, ZF-5, NVG-4500, or a T-5 than to keep your T-85 going when there are no parts available to fix it when it breaks.
No bellhousing listed specific to the T85. All M/T took the same one per engine family. 1969 was the 1st year Ford put a SBF 302 in a Truck. So I went there.
69/79 302 bellhousing was part number D1TZ6392D. Replaced D1TZ6392C. Stamped D1TA6394BA. it held a 11" clutch like the 360 but they were different part numbers.

69/early 77 302 had a 164 tooth flywheel. Part number C6TZ6375A. replaced by C6TZ6375B. Replaced by C6TZ6375C (stamped C7TE-A). Replaced by D7TZ6375C. Discontinued.
Out of all 4 those numbers, there is only one C6TZ6375C on my locators. It is at:
