update on trailer lighting problem
I posted earlier about a lighting problem with my new trailer (2 months old) Well, I dropped it off a few days ago and i just picked it up today. Apparently when i got there, the guy showed me a bill for 1/2 of labor for $30. I was floored because I told him it should be waranteed. He proceeded to tell me that i snagged the wiring somehow and it caused the problem! NOT!
well, after some "discussion", he waived the fee and i drove it home. When i got home, I had my sister stand behind the trailer to verify that everything was in working order. Well, as soon as I hit the lights, both her and I saw smoke coming from the wiring harness on the trailer. I immediately pulled the plug and got out of my truck and called the guy. He wants me to take it back monday. He was really nice. Im just a little upset of everything. Turns out, after I got off the phone, I went back outside to see if i could figure what they DID to the trailer for the so-called $30 fee. Well, all i could see was where a "technician" 'stapled' the wires that were supposedly hanging down, to the bottom of the 2x8 PTYP planks. I almost died when I saw how they were stapled. Apparently, this guy had a few staples going THROUGH the wiring itself! I might be wrong here, but I was always told to be wary of stapling wires! When I go back monday, Im gonna be very vocal about things. I have no idea if the wiring in my truck is toasted when the trailer shorted out! I dont know if i should touch it OR let them right their mistakes! Any ideas? sorry for the long post
regards
Ben
