97 f150 4.2 help

Hey guys new here so heres what happens went out mudding and got water in my intake drove home bofinf out took the intake out put a new one in it and it fired right up but because of the amount of crud in there i decided to take it all apart down to the throttle bodie cleaned everything and it shot a maf code replaced it and it would start and it didnt want to idle but drove ok ish so i parked it and the next morning i came out to drive it and it was dead so i got my buddy to hook up the battery while i turned it over turns out the battery pack was hooked up backwards now its shooting a pile of codes most say out of self test range i put in another pcm out of a 2wd auto truck mines stick and its still doing the same thing plus a bunch of tranny codes for the torque converter are these pcms compatable and does anyone have any ide what could be wrong has plenty of compresion and spark

got to do one thing at a time

If it were me I'd go to back to the original PCM. THEN check for spark (get one of them spark checking lites, also a fuel pressure guage), THEN check fuel pressure. If all that shows good and still don't start then buy a Haynes book. I'm not good at these EFI things but, I did get a U-pullit wrecking yard engine swap out to run pretty well. bjr
