I've had the wrench light come on followed by the entire dashboard shut down 3x the last couple months on my 2012 Expedition. The middle cigarette lighter hasn't worked also for a few months, not sure if it's related. I shut it down and start it back up and it seems to reset. The first 2x's I thought it might not be a big deal but it happened again tonight so I'm thinking I have a problem. Anyone experience the same issue?
Shortly after I posted this we were driving on the highway and the engine locked up. We had it towed to dealer. They said the engine went bad. After I paid and they replaced the engine I still had issues. Had it towed to the dealer. They determined it was the molded lead frame causing the issue and replaced it. Problem was fixed. Issue I had with that is it is a recall on 2012 Expeditions made in the same plant as mine at the same time but mine wasn’t covered. It fixed the problem.
In some of the affected vehicles, an intermittent output shaft speed (OSS) sensor failure may result in an illuminated malfunction indicator light (MIL) and/or wrench light in the instrument cluster with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0720, P0722, P0731 and/or P1500 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). Additionally, some vehicles may experience an unintended downshift into first gear.
SERVICE ACTION
If an affected vehicle exhibits this condition, dealers are to replace the molded leadframe. This service must be performed at no charge to the vehicle owner.
