I need information!!!!!! I am experiencing a serious problem with my Expedition and all I get from my service center is "CAN NOT DUPLICATE" the problem.
The truck accelerates with the brake applied.
I was stopped at a traffic light when my Expedition lunged forward. This has happened several times. I have taken the truck in for service twice and each time I was told no problem found, "COULD NOT DUPLICATE". They look at me as if I am crazy.
I have researched this issue and found it to be a very common problem with the Expedition and F-150. I called the Ford Motor Company customer service line with this information. The rep stated, the customer not the service center must report the problem to Ford.
I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this problem. I am putting together information and proof for North Central Ford and Ford Motor Company.

First, I am not a man. I am a female. I am a Ford only driver. My husband races his mustang and I show my Expedition at Ford events. I have invested thousands of dollors into my truck. I am not looking for a lawsuit but an answer to what is causing this problem. I want the problem fixed. This is my daily driver and I have two small children that ride in this truck.
So, for your comment, if you do not have information regarding this issue please do not reply. I take this matter serious. Unlike some people I do not need a lawsuit to get rich.
We suggested to the dealership that the adjustable pedals might be one of the possible causes, along with the idle air bypass, and cruise control. We have a list. The dealership will not make a specific determination of what may be causing the acceleration. As far as they are concerned this is not a problem.
I found an article that states this problem is caused by the cruise control system used by Ford. There are several complaints and pending suits against Ford on this issue. The article lists Crown Vics, F-150, Escapes and other Ford products. Expeditions were not listed in any of the suits, but are listed in the complaints.
I am determined to find the cause of this problem. Because I have researched this issue and found others having the same problem, and getting the same answers, I want Ford to recognize the problem and fix it.
I will post the article about the cruise control . I would like any suggestions.
Hey, I have a T-bird SC that does something like that, when you hit the cruise 'ON' button, she'll go to full throttle. Makes for a scary ride. Haven't gotten around to finding the problem yet however.
One thing for sure... if your dealer is not taking you seriously, change dealers! Some are conscientious, some could care less because they have a bone to pick with Ford. I've found that small town dealers are a lot more likely to help you trace the hard problems than big town dealers.

Pretty harsh words. WHY?
01Expy, I've had good luck with NCF in the past with other vehicles, but it has been several years since I lived in SA. I know there is a known problem with these engines revving while they should be idling, say at a light. It has even happened to me in the past but so long as the brake is firmly applied the truck won't go anywhere, inasmuch as it is nearly impossible to override a properly working brake system.
Good luck and keep us posted if you find something out.
Yes,,,,,,,,,,,,Been reading these forums for three years,or so. We got a '98 EB.Something in the cruise control or near it,,,if I recall a diaphram or something.More prominent in colder weathers, but still can occur, regardless.Saw in forum about one year or so.
Hi 01Expy. Here is something you might want to look into. My wife has an 01 Windstar. Sometimes when I am driving it and put the brake on quickly, the van seems to want to accelerate. The harder I push the more it wants to go. What I found out is, there is not a lot of space between the brake and the accelerator pedals, therefore when I put on the brake quickly, I am sometimes pushing on the accelerator pedal also. Scared the hell out of me a couple of times. I have heard that there is a recall in the works on the taurus (I think) for the same problem. I don't know if this is a problem because of the adjustable pedals or not. I have the same setup on my 02 Screw and have never had it happen in the truck. Next time it happens, try to observe if you are pressing on both pedals. It probably happens with me because of the size 13's but with a lady, I can't see it so much. Anyway, just a suggestion. Maybe Ford needs to look into the pedal spacing on some of their vehicles. Hope it gets fixed, since I work for the Oval, we don't need another problem like that.
The first time I took my truck in for this problem, the service advisor asked me the same questions. Are you sure, your foot was on the brake and not on the gas? Was the brake firmly applied? They even asked me about the floor mats and commented on driver error. Don't get me wrong; I do understand each question is a possibility.
Because I have personally eliminated each question as a possibility, and still after three times in for repair the service department cannot figure it out, I requested a black box be installed.
Question: If Ford cannot diagnose this problem with all the equipment they have, and the computer in my truck has no negative readings, how is this black box going to diagnose or retain the problem?
I understand I have to pushing a button to record the occurrences! Can someone please explain how this black box works.
I am frustrated and tired. I just want an answer to this problem so I can have it repaired.
Thank you GUYS for all your help and impute. I really appreciate all the advice.
By the way, I am taking it to another dealer. Can anyone refer me to a "Dallas" Ford Dealer with a decent service department?
